This issue of the Revista Digital de Ciencia Forense brings together ten scientific and outreach contributions, organized into three interrelated thematic areas:

1. Human identification and forensic biology. This section addresses techniques for the characterization and identification of biological remains. One study analyzes the impact of soil properties on postmortem bone degradation. In the field of genetics, the use of DNA methylation to predict chronological age is reviewed. In dentistry, an educational protocol for palatal rugoscopy is presented. Finally, an immunohistochemical study validates the MHC-I marker as a means to distinguish human bone fragments from those of animal origin.
2. Document examination, handwriting analysis, and digital evidence. This area examines international methodologies and instruments used for document authentication and forensic examination. An accessible multispectral imaging system is evaluated for its ability to differentiate inks in questioned documents. Regarding handwriting analysis, the scientific validation and legal admissibility of a commercial software program are assessed. Additionally, a study explores international guidelines (SWGDE, ENFSI, OSAC) that govern the processing and integrity of photographic and video evidence.
3. Public health, emerging substances, and legal medicine. Lastly, this section includes work with significant regulatory and institutional implications. It examines pharmacoeconomic methodologies applied to addiction treatment, the challenges of chemical analysis regarding fentanyl analogs in Mexico, and the medicolegal investigation of a perinatal death caused by alveolar-capillary dysplasia, in the context of allegations of medical malpractice.
