About the Journal
The Revista Digital de Ciencia Forense (ReCiF) is a biannual academic publication. Its publication months are March–April during the first semester and September–October during the second semester; however, manuscript submissions are accepted throughout the year.
Its purpose is to disseminate knowledge and promote education in forensic science, providing a forum in which professors, researchers, and students can discuss knowledge generated through academic training and university activities. Accordingly, this digital journal welcomes contributions from specialists in the field, as well as early-career scientists, students, and graduates, promoting the development of methodological skills for publishing their research and academic work through a process of specialist review. In this way, the journal makes a significant contribution to disseminating the knowledge acquired through university education.
In addition, the journal publishes content on educational models and pedagogical innovations implemented in forensic science education. These contributions support the improved design of classroom teaching activities, help maintain an up-to-date faculty, and promote the continuous review of forensic science curricula. Finally, the journal seeks to strengthen forensic science literacy among the general public and promote knowledge transfer, helping to ensure that forensic science professionals meet minimum competency standards that enable them to perform effectively in the professional labor market.
The ReCiF is an electronic biannual periodical organized around four main areas:
1) Specialized Research: Publication of review papers that, due to their degree of specialization, are not readily available in consolidated resources that facilitate consultation by students or support the continuing education of faculty involved in forensic science teaching.
2) Student Research: Publication of research papers resulting from academic placements, community service, or thesis projects on topics related to forensic science. This section promotes the development of methodological research skills among forensic science students, including the ability to report research findings and academic outputs by subjecting their work to specialist scrutiny. It contributes significantly not only to the dissemination of knowledge acquired during their university education but also to their development as scientists.
3) Dissemination of the Educational Model: Communication of advances in the educational model for the training of forensic scientists.
4) Dissemination of Forensic Science to the General Public: Publication of articles aimed at strengthening forensic science literacy among the general public through science communication.
DIGITAL PRESERVATION
ReCiF ensures the digital preservation of its content through the implementation of the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS) systems, which ensure the safeguarding, integrity, and long-term accessibility of published files. In addition, the journal performs regular backups of its information to further strengthen the security and preservation of its digital archive.
